While Vance Charter's win against Excelsior Classical Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights skirted past the Flying Lions 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since October 22, 2024.
Vance Charter wouldn't go down easily and took Excelsior Classical Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-20, 22-25, 25-15, 15-6.
Meanwhile, Henderson Collegiate didn't have quite enough to beat Cristo Rey Research Triangle on Monday and fell 3-2. While the Pride didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulls 25-14 in the first set.
Henderson Collegiate actually scored more points across those five sets (99-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 15-8.
Vance Charter's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Henderson Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
Everything went Vance Charter's way against Henderson Collegiate when the teams last played on September 4th, as Vance Charter made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
