Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Dewey's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Dewey won against Keys on Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Bulldoggers blew past the Cougars 12-3. The Bulldoggers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Layne Gastel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other pitching news, Cooper Wood looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Dewey got a big performance out of Levi Wilson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jay Murguia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Dewey hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in five consecutive contests.

Dewey has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Keys, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Dewey will be taking part in a tournament against Oklahoma Union at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Keys, they will head out on the road to square off against Beggs on Thursday.
