Basketball Recap: Queensbury Takes a Loss

If Queensbury was feeling good fresh off their 69-40 takedown of Scotia-Glenville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Queensbury Spartans were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to the South Glens Falls Bulldogs. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Queensbury's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Huffaker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Huffaker's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Troy Jorgensen was another key player, going 9 for 20 en route to 20 points.

Queensbury's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for South Glens Falls, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Queensbury will square off against Gloversville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Glens Falls, they will challenge Amsterdam at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
