Basketball Game Preview: Brookeland Wildcats vs. Goodrich Hornets

Brookeland is 6-1 against Goodrich since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Brookeland Wildcats will welcome the Goodrich Hornets at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brookeland has ten straight wins, Goodrich has 38 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Brookeland is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Spurger: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Brookeland blew Spurger out of the water with a 94-54 final score. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 27 points or more this season.

Brookeland can attribute much of their success to Landon Smith, who shot 5-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten assists, and Cade Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 15 boards. Smith's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jake Bennett was another key player, going 8 of 12 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Brookeland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 30 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Goodrich had to suffer through a 78-15 loss at the hands of Leggett.

Brookeland is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 56.8 points. As for Goodrich, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-24.

Everything came up roses for Brookeland against Goodrich in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 153-14 victory. In that contest, Brookeland amassed a halftime lead of 89-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
