Softball Game Preview: Central Cabarrus Vikings vs. East Rowan Mustangs

The Central Cabarrus Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the East Rowan Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Central Cabarrus made easy work of Carson and carried off a 14-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Cecilia Measmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Measmer was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinley Hood, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Emma Salter was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Central Cabarrus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carson only posted an OBP of .407.

Meanwhile, East Rowan put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Northwest Cabarrus 14-2.

East Rowan's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central Cabarrus, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Central Cabarrus took their victory against East Rowan when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. Does Central Cabarrus have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Rowan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
