McQueen faced Galena in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Grizzlies 11-9. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-3 on Saturday.

Violet Moyao was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Maddie Hawkins was incredible, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn Guber was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

McQueen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galena struck out six times.

McQueen is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Galena, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-18-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. McQueen is set to square off against their familiar foe Carson at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Lancers' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Senators have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Galena will challenge rival Douglas at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
