Baseball Recap: Heights Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Heights had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the West Pioneers on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Pioneers on Monday, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Carter Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Heights got a big performance out of Aiden Kerr, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Dakota Rittel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Heights' victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for West, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Heights will take on rival Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, West is set to square off against their familiar foe Southeast on Monday.
