Needles waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Laughlin Cougars a 16-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 on Tuesday.

Scotti Powell was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Edey Ponce was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-3.

Needles hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three strikeouts batters in five consecutive games.

Needles pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Laughlin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Coming up, Needles will venture away from home to face off against Williams at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Laughlin, they will host Beaver Dam at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
