Baseball Recap: Central Find Success

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Central and Huntley, and Central kept the tradition alive. The Rockets came out on top against the Red Raiders by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 5-4 victory last Friday.

Central got a great performance from Jack Person as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Person has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Central's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor Finn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. Thomas Koertgen was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Central's record now sits at 18-16. As for Huntley, they moved to 19-15 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Central and Huntley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Rockets (ranked 116th) will meet Rochelle (ranked 338th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Huntley will square off against Guilford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (69 vs. 419).
