Softball Recap: Pontotoc Falls Short Against Ranked Corinth

On Tuesday, Pontotoc faced Corinth in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pontotoc came up short against Corinth, falling 7-1. The matchup marked Pontotoc's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pontotoc saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erynn Boddie, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

With the defeat, Pontotoc broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Corinth, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

While Pontotoc had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
