Baseball Recap: Mckinney North Takes Down Lufkin in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but McKinney North had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Lufkin Panthers. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Connor Leos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. He has become a key player for McKinney North: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 10-12-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gage Bradley and Cohen Broussard did most of the damage at the plate: Bradley went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run, while Broussard went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those two hits gave Bradley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Shelton, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: McKinney North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

McKinney North now has a winning record of 13-12-1. As for Lufkin, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-9.

As of now, neither McKinney North nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
