Volleyball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville lost against Whiteland back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Artesians fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2.

Martinsville took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 25-13, 15-13.

When it comes to explaining why Martinsville lost, don't look at Garrett Gardner. Despite the final result, he had six digs and two aces. Gardner is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Whiteland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-19 record this season.

Martinsville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Shelbyville on the 7th. As for Whiteland, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Decatur Central on the 7th.
