Baseball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello couldn't beat Hamburg on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Billies fell 12-7 to the Lions. The Billies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 6-2.

Jerimiah Philley was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Luke Reid, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Monticello and nudges their season record down to 12-6. As for Hamburg, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9-1.

Looking ahead, Monticello will square off against El Dorado at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hamburg, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Crossett at 5:00 p.m.
