Softball Recap: Eastern Randolph Wildcats vs. Jordan-Matthews Jets

If Eastern Randolph was riding high fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Southeast Guilford on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jordan-Matthews Jets on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Jets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Adie Beck was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Shelby Williams made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Hailey Ritter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Eastern Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Jordan-Matthews, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8.
