Baseball Recap: Blue Ridge's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Blue Ridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fishburne Military, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Barons put the hurt on the Caissons with a sharp 12-2 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Barons brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Colby White was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Colt Chalmers and Charles Searby did most of the damage at the plate: Chalmers went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple, while Searby scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most hits Chalmers has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Byers, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Blue Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fishburne Military only posted an OBP of .375.

Blue Ridge's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Fishburne Military, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
