The Glendale Prep Academy Griffins will challenge the Tonopah Valley Phoenix at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Glendale Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.5 runs per game this season.
Two weeks ago, Glendale Prep Academy got the win against Wickenburg by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Raegan Rockey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Glendale Prep Academy let Karin DeStefano and Ally Moore run wild. DeStefano scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Moore scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave DeStefano a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Whipple, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Tonopah Valley lost 15-5 to Phoenix Christian on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Phoenix have lost by exactly ten runs.
Ellie Procunier made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Shiloh Walker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Glendale Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Tonopah Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Glendale Prep Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .541. However, it's not like Tonopah Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .525. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
