Basketball Recap: West Point Takes a Loss

After flying high against San Luis last Friday, West Point came back down to earth. The West Point Dragons were beaten by the Liberty Lions 53-25 on Tuesday.

Liberty was led to victory by Francesca Sofia and Makenna Johnson. Sofia went 10 of 21 en route to 20 points and eight steals, while Johnson posted 15 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sofia has scored at least a third of Liberty's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallee Hilt, who had five points.

West Point's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

West Point will look to defend their home court on Friday against Apollo at 5:30 p.m. As for Liberty, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-45 defeat against O'Connor on the 15th.
