Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Trail Comes Up Short

Santa Fe Trail lost against Burlington on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chargers came up short against the Wildcats, falling 8-2. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rigley Sleichter was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Alex Strother was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Santa Fe Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Burlington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Santa Fe Trail will face off against Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Burlington, they will take on Osawatomie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Wildcats' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while the Trojans have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
