Baseball Recap: Collinsville Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Collinsville and Belleville East, and Belleville East kept the tradition alive. The Kahoks fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. The Kahoks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Luke Robinson and Will Swip did some serious damage despite the final result: Robinson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Swip got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Robinson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Owen, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Collinsville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season. As for Belleville East, they moved to 19-13 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Collinsville will take on Carbondale at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Belleville East, they will face off against Triad at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
