Atlantic Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Cape May County Tech Hawks as Atlantic Christian made off with a 17-2 victory. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.
Adam Schlundt and Ethan Costello made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Schlundt struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Costello tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Schlundt scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Costello went 2-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs.
