Basketball Game Preview: Apollo Ridge Vikings vs. Shady Side Academy Bulldogs

Apollo Ridge hasn't had much luck against Shady Side Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Apollo Ridge Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Shady Side Academy Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 82-41, which was the final score in Apollo Ridge's tilt against South Allegheny on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 616th, while the Gladiators are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, Shady Side Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-63 heartbreaker at the hands of McKeesport.

Apollo Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Shady Side Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Apollo Ridge took a serious blow against Shady Side Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 68-21. Can Apollo Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
