Recap: Lakeside Lancers vs. Canyon Springs Cougars
The Lakeside Lancers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Canyon Springs Cougars on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 57-55. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lakeside in their matchups with Canyon Springs: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maurice Turner. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Turner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Knudson, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and five assists.
Lakeside has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Canyon Springs, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeside will take on Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canyon Springs, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Rialto at 10:30 a.m. Rialto is hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses.
