Recap: Syosset vs. Oceanside Sailors
There's no place like home for The Syosset , who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Oceanside on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Syosset, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Syosset found their leader in underclassman Max Garibaldi, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Garibaldi was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Syosset's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-6 Valley Stream Central and 1-5 Baldwin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Oceanside, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Syosset will take on Massapequa at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Massapequa is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Oceanside, they will be playing at home against Valley Stream Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Stream Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
