Football Recap: Winfield Wins Going Away Against Riverside + How To Watch

The Winfield Generals didn't have too much trouble with the Riverside Warriors on Friday as they won 42-28.

Jared Miller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 121 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 218 yards while completing 76.5% of his passes. Those 121 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Gannon Boggs was another key player, rushing for 122 yards and one score.

Despite the defeat, Riverside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Malakhi Hope rushed for 143 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries. Those 143 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Hope.

Winfield pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for Riverside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winfield will welcome Point Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will be up against the Big Blacks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.22 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Riverside, they will host Capital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
