Baseball Recap: Sylacauga Comes Up Short

Sylacauga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 8-5 to the Holtville Bulldogs. That's two games in a row now that the Aggies have lost by exactly three runs.

Sylacauga saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Johnathan Toney, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave Toney a new career-high.

Sylacauga now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Holtville, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Looking ahead, Sylacauga will challenge Fayetteville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sylacauga's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fayetteville has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Holtville, they will take on John Carroll Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
