Basketball Recap: Concord Takes a Loss

If Concord was riding high fresh off their 57-13 takedown of Shirley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Concord Pirates fell just short of the Rural Special Rebels by a score of 55-52 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 71-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Concord's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 9-9. As for Rural Special, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Timbo at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Rural Special will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Melbourne at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
