Softball Game Preview: O'Fallon Panthers vs. Mater Dei Knights

The O'Fallon Panthers will take on the Mater Dei Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Fallon is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, O'Fallon didn't have quite enough to beat Freeburg and fell 8-7.

Megan Shull was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilli Coleman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past Okawville 8-6. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Taylor Robert made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Robert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Lynn Shirley and Sophie Roelfs did most of the damage at the plate: Shirley went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Roelfs scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Carissa Rich was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Mater Dei always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Okawville only posted an OBP of .321.

O'Fallon's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Mater Dei, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
