Baseball Recap: Thoreau Comes Up Short

If Thoreau was feeling good fresh off their 19-2 takedown of Navajo Pine last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Thoreau took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wingate Bears on Friday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Zack Mariano made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Stetson Perry, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Thoreau's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Wingate, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Thoreau wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-10 defeat against Zuni on the 29th. As for Wingate, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against Tohatchi on the 29th.
