Baseball Recap: Beachside Comes Up Short

Beachside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to the Spruce Creek Hawks.

Gabe Gerhardt was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Beachside's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Spruce Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beachside will take on Viera in a tournament on Wednesday. Viera's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Beachside's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Spruce Creek, they will take on St. Augustine at 6:30 p.m. on March 27th. Spruce Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
