After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Duarte, Polytechnic was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 18-2 margin over the Brentwood School Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ellery Engstrom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Brynn Connolly and Eila Chan did most of the damage at the plate: Connolly scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Chan went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Connolly has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Xiya Shively, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The victory got Polytechnic back to even at 1-1. As for Brentwood School, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
