Recap: Neumann Celtics vs. Gateway Charter Griffins
In what's become a running theme this season, the Neumann Celtics gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Gateway Charter at home to the tune of 65-29. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-20.
Sophia McCartney continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mylee Van de wouw, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Despite the defeat, Gateway Charter saw an underclassman step up: Lizy Mendez scored eight points.
Neumann's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. As for Gateway Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neumann will take on Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Verot will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Gateway Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lehigh at 7:00 p.m.
