Basketball Recap: Lakewood Presbyterian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lakewood Presbyterian had lost five straight headed into Tuesday's contest, but Zoeh Kinson didn't let it get to six. The Lakewood Presbyterian Knights took down the Faith Lutheran Lions 41-27 on Tuesday thanks in part to Kinson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. What's more, she also racked up eight blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024.

Maya Kinson was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Faith Lutheran's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tara Leicht, who posted 12 points, and Evangeline Hoff, who scored ten points. That was a full 44.4% of Faith Lutheran's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Sara Ponnaboyena also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Lakewood Presbyterian's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-12. As for Faith Lutheran, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Lakewood Presbyterian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-38 loss against Trinity Christian Academy on the 24th. As for Faith Lutheran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 0-0 defeat against Faustina Academy on the 27th.
