Softball Recap: Oakwood Owls vs. Viewpoint Patriots
Oakwood had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Viewpoint Patriots, falling 21-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Owls' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Viewpoint, their record is now 16-2. Considering they have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Viewpoint's part, Emjay Peck was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Peck has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Gwyneth Lewis was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Skylar Meehan was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
