Basketball Recap: Perry Takes a Loss

Perry lost against Millennium back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between the Perry Pumas and the Millennium Tigers didn't end well, with the Perry Pumas falling 57-41. While losing is never fun, the Pumas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Tigers are ranked second).

Destiny Lunan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Millennium, going 13 of 25 en route to 33 points and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lunan has scored at least a third of Millennium's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Hunt, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

Perry has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Millennium, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Perry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-67 defeat against Desert Vista on the 21st. As for Millennium, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-50 victory against Cherokee Trail on the 21st.
