Baseball Recap: Cave Spring Comes Up Short

Cave Spring scored first but ultimately less than Blacksburg in their matchup on Tuesday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost four in a row.

Logan Meinster made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Cave Spring: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Joe Farwell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cave Spring's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Blacksburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Coming up, Cave Spring will take on Franklin County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Blacksburg, they will challenge Hidden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
