Basketball Game Preview: Las Animas Trojans vs. Hoehne Farmers

Las Animas hasn't had much luck against Hoehne recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Las Animas Trojans will get right back to it and host the Hoehne Farmers at 4:00 p.m.

Las Animas is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since December 16, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by McClave 62-22. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-4.

Meanwhile, Hoehne came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.2 points), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 63-41 margin over the Tigers. The Farmers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Hoehne pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points over those games. As for Las Animas, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Las Animas was taken down by Hoehne 51-8 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Las Animas was down 33-2.
