Softball Recap: Century Comes Up Short

Century had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-13 to make it four. They came up short against the Sherwood Bowmen, falling 11-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bowmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in April.

Hailey Kinney made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As for Sherwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

On Sherwood's side, Presley Sarono-Ramos made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sarono-Ramos has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season.

In other pitching news, Destiny Cornwell looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Henderson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Parmalee, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Century has already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Newberg on the 13th. As for Sherwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-3 victory against Glencoe on the 13th.
