Soccer Game Preview: Lutcher vs. East Ascension

Lutcher hasn't had much luck against East Ascension recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. Lutcher will be strutting in after a victory while East Ascension will be coming in after a loss.

Lutcher took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy a 2-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, East Ascension faced Jesuit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. East Ascension lost 4-0 to Jesuit.

Lutcher's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matchups. As for East Ascension, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2-3.

Lutcher came up short against East Ascension in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 3-1. Can Lutcher avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
