Baseball Game Preview: Bruton Panthers vs. Poquoson Islanders

Bruton is 2-8 against Poquoson since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will head out to take on the Islanders at 4:30 p.m. Bruton has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bruton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jamestown, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 11-9 on Friday. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.

Ty Yates stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was William Muller, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Poquoson). They walked away with a 12-7 win over Bethel on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Islanders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Bruton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Poquoson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Bruton might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Poquoson in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
