Soccer Game Preview: Chowchilla vs. Firebaugh

The Chowchilla Tribe will head out on the road to challenge the Firebaugh Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chowchilla's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Chowchilla is headed into the contest having not lost since the second and will look to keep things rolling. They and Sanger West finished up their game with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Chowchilla's goal came courtesy of Alexy Herrera, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Firebaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 8-0 to Porterville. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Panthers are ranked 22nd).

Firebaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-1. With that draw, Chowchilla's record moves to 4-1-3.

Chowchilla skirted past Firebaugh 1-0 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chowchilla since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
