Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. Casa Roble Rams
Kennedy has been on the road for six straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. The Kennedy Cougars and the Casa Roble Rams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Kennedy strolled past Mira Loma with points to spare, taking the game 66-49. Given Kennedy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Mira Loma is ranked 548th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Aharon Young, who scored 16 points. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dondre Prothro, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Casa Roble unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sutter. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Casa Roble has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Benny Ambriz, who scored 28 points. He scored a full 42.4% of Casa Roble's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Moses Oginni, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Kennedy's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Casa Roble, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Kennedy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Casa Roble, though, as they've been averaging only 25.5 rebounds per game. Given Kennedy's sizeable advantage in that area, Casa Roble will need to find a way to close that gap. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
