 De La Salle is 9-0 against Elk Grove since March of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Saturday. The De La Salle Spartans will head out on the road to  face off against  the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 11:00  a.m. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average, (De La Salle: 2.4, Elk Grove: 2.6) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
 On Friday, De La Salle was able to grind out a solid  win over Monte Vista, taking the game  6-3. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for De La Salle.
  RJ Meyn tossed a big game,   striking out six batters over  6.2 innings while giving up  three earned runs off   seven  hits (and not a single walk).
 On the hitting side,  Joe McGee was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.  Tyler Spangler was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
 Meanwhile, Elk Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Cardinal Newman on Friday and fell  4-2.
 Elk Grove also got a good showing from  Russell Pettis, who   pitched three innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   two  hits. Pettis has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Elk Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Evan Gentil, who  went 2-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 De La Salle is  on a roll lately: they've  won eight of their last nine matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record  this season. As for Elk Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
