Basketball Recap: Barnesville Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Madelynn Tyson and Aiva Leasure

Barnesville easily dispatched St. Clairsville last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Barnesville Shamrocks fell just short of the Linsly Cadets by a score of 48-45 on Monday. The Shamrocks haven't had much luck with the Cadets recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Barnesville had strong showings from Aiva Leasure, who went 7 of 10 en route to 17 points and eight boards, and Madelynn Tyson, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 17 points. That's the most points Leasure has posted since back in December of 2024. Lydia Welch was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Barnesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Barnesville's record is now 9-11. As for Linsly, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Barnesville will welcome Martins Ferry at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Martins Ferry will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Barnesville surely won't give up without a fight. Linsly has already played their next contest (against Buckeye Trail), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
