Softball Preview: Lafayette Hornets vs. Taylor County Bulldogs

Lafayette has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Taylor County Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lafayette is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Lafayette's hitters might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against Fort White on Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 13-0 walloping at the hands of the Indians.

Hannah Shiver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Kirkland was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Lafayette dropped their record down to 8-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Taylor County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
