Recap: Columbus Falcons vs. Ridgeland Titans

On Saturday, the Columbus Falcons faced the Ridgeland Titans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Columbus fell 68-61 to Ridgeland. Columbus was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ridgeland apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on January 2nd.

Ridgeland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Phil Nelson, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Stevent Watkins, who scored 13 points.

Columbus dropped their record down to 16-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Ridgeland, Warren Central, and Vicksburg. As for Ridgeland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will take on Warren Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Columbus is ranked 14th). As for Ridgeland, they will be playing at home against Vicksburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Vicksburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
