After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hartselle, Austin was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 47-6 win over the Decatur Red Raiders. The Black Bears haven't had any issues with the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Austin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Qadir Lyle out in front who rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 247 yards while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt. Those 247 passing yards gave Lyle a new career-high. Austin also got a significant boost from Aidan Davis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

Austin's run defense was locked in: Decatur could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The Black Bears' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.9.

The victory got Austin back to even at 1-1. As for Decatur, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Austin and Decatur will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Black Bears are set to challenge their familiar foe Sparkman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Decatur will face off against rival Jasper at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
