Football Game Preview: La Vega Pirates vs. China Spring Cougars

The La Vega Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the China Spring Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

La Vega took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Gatesville 24-7. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Ben Thompson and Tristen Tyler. Thompson rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries while Tyler rushed for 38 yards and a pair of TDs.

La Vega took their victory against China Spring in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 35-14 score.
