Basketball Preview: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Mullen Mustangs
Eaglecrest is 10-0 against the Mustangs since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Eaglecrest Raptors will be playing at home against the Mullen Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Eaglecrest will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Eaglecrest's strategy against the Wolves on Friday. Eaglecrest enjoyed a cozy 51-33 win over the Wolves. Given Eaglecrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Wolves are ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Garrett Barger was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladavian King, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Mullen, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-54 loss to the Ravens on Monday.
Eaglecrest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Mullen, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
Eaglecrest beat the Mustangs 86-76 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Eaglecrest have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
