Preview: Dilley Wolves vs. Hondo Owls
Dilley is 0-3 against Hondo since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dilley Wolves' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hondo Owls at 6:15 p.m. on January 26th. Dilley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Dilley suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 65-16 loss at the hands of Crystal City. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dilley in their matchups with Crystal City: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Hondo beat Natalia 48-39 on Friday. The victory was just what Hondo needed coming off of a 69-39 loss in their prior match.
Dilley dropped their record down to 2-24 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.9 points per game. As for Hondo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Dilley was taken down by Hondo 54-10 in their previous meeting on January 9th. Can Dilley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
