Recap: Lakewood Spartans vs. Somerset Prep

The Lakewood Spartans struggled with assists on Tuesday (Somerset Prep had 800% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lakewood took a 62-44 bruising from Somerset Prep.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riana Callihan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sumayah McIntosh, who scored 8 points along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds.

Leading Somerset Prep to victory were Riley Stoker and Jocelyn Gagnon. Stoker dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Gagnon scored 18 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Stoker has scored at least 25% of Somerset Prep's points. Isyss Mims was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Somerset Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Lakewood will be playing in front of their home fans against Northeast at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Somerset Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against West Boca Raton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
